Purpose of Position

The Senior Data Analytics Engineer is a data steward responsible for ensuring data is ingested, transformed, scheduled, and ready to be used for analytics. The Senior Data Analytics Engineer moves and transforms data from the source so that it can be easily analyzed, visualized, and acted upon by the data analyst or business user.

Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with business users to determine needs and appropriate data models
  • Act as a conduit between Data Engineering and the business to translate business data needs to the technology team
  • Develop and implement appropriate data models for business use
  • Confers with personnel of organizational units to analyze current operational procedures, identify problems, and learn specific input and output requirements, such as forms of data input, how data is to be summarized, and formats for reports.
  • Development of process/procedural documentation, whether web-based or in an alternative format. These items may include the following: training documentation, step-by-step procedural outlines, FAQs, how-to's, and best practices outlines.
  • Interfacing with appropriate governing groups to ascertain database application and customization needs
  • Assists in the specification and maintenance of records for user access regarding access level and available data for each relevant database
  • Ability to mentor team members in data analytics concepts and tools as needed
  • Accountable and responsible for the accuracy and completeness of assigned work and results
  • Prioritize and manage workload and communicate issues clearly
  • Complete other tasks as required
  • Travel when required
Minimum Education
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or equivalent industry experience
Minimum Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in data analytics or data engineering, working with SQL Server databases and their associated toolsets in a production or support environment
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Strong experience in data analytics using SQL to develop data models; knowledge of Python, dbt, or other modern stack tools a plus
  • Solid knowledge and experience in data transformation, data warehousing, and deployment tools
  • Working knowledge of Windows OS, Microsoft Office, and other Windows-based programs
  • Experience collaborating with business units to define data needs, acting as a conduit between technology and the business
  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs various complicated tasks in a fast-paced, production-critical support environment. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is expected
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to multi-task and prioritize workload
