Job Description

Inova L.J. Murphy Children's Hospital is seeking a qualified physician to join their growing Pediatric Hospitalist team in Falls Church, Virginia. Our Pediatric hospitalists provide 24/7 in-house coverage of the pediatric medical unit, daily coverage of the newborn nursery (no delivery attendance), and consultative services to our surgical colleagues. Our pediatric hospitalist program seeks additional hospitalists ready to join 24 dedicated physicians in their endeavor to provide expert care of children from birth to young adulthood. While caring for both the general and medically complex pediatric populations, we also remain at the forefront of education for residents and medical students and are involved in mentorship and QI projects. We are proud of ourown Pediatric Residency Program with35 residents. We also educate over 150 medical students from 2 different schools in our region and are the Northern Virginia campus for the UVA School of Medicine.

Inova L.J. Murphy Children's Hospital is a 226-bed, full-service children's hospital devoted to the healthcare of infants, children and adolescents in the Northern Virginia area. The newly expanded facility opened in 2016, providing state-of-the-art technology, research and teaching innovations, and a dedicated team approach to patient care. As Northern Virginia's only pediatric tertiary care center, the Inova Children's Hospital provides the highest level of care for pediatric patients, in a technologically advanced, yet child-friendly environment, close to home.

Position Details:

  • Communicate and coordinate care for patients with medical needs from multiple subspecialties
  • Liaise with case managers, nurses and other healthcare staff to ensure the highest quality of care
  • Encourage and participate in an outstanding patient experience
  • Actively participate in the education of residents and medical students during their shifts
  • Assists with teaching fellows in our ACGME Pediatric Hospitalist Medicine Fellowship.

Requirements:

  • Education: An MD or DO from an accredited university medical school, Completed ACGME residency training and subsequent fellowship, Board eligible or board certified
  • Licensure: Current or eligibility for an unrestricted Virginia state medical license and DEA
